Want to earn in Etsy? Etsy is a competitive marketplace, but I was able to generate over $30,000 in revenue in just one month by implementing smart, repeatable strategies—without a team, without burning out, and while managing parenting responsibilities on my own.
This level of income is no longer a rare milestone in my shop—it’s become the norm. In this post, I’ll walk you through the key systems, pricing strategies, and workflow improvements that helped me grow from consistent $20K months into the $30K–$40K range.
Let’s get started.
Things I Did To Earn in Etsy within 30 days
1. Set Up Daily USPS Pickups
This may sound simple, but trust me—consistency with shipping is everything. Don’t leave it up to chance. If you schedule USPS pickup just once a week, you risk being forgotten (substitute drivers, anyone?). Instead, set it up on their website for 5–6 days a week. This ensures pickups become part of their regular route.
Why does this matter? Because fast turnaround times = happier customers, higher perceived value, and more sales. And when you’re not competing on price, you’re winning.
2. Find Your Sweet Spot Between Price and Production
If your time isn’t maxed out, consider lowering your prices slightly (think 10%) to increase demand. On the flip side, if you’re swamped and stretched too thin, raise your prices to control volume and protect your sanity.
The goal isn’t just revenue—it’s your hourly wage. Price accordingly so every hour worked counts.
3. Batch Your Work (Seriously)
Want to speed up production? Stop jumping between different tasks. Group similar orders together.
For example:
- Monday = all sweatshirt orders
- Tuesday = backpacks
- Wednesday = blankets
This eliminates the constant mental resets and boosts your flow.
4. Never Run Out of Stock
If you notice something getting low—order it immediately. Don’t wait. Don’t trust your memory. Also, don’t waste time on extra store trips. And when you order online, you also stock up on free packaging materials (bubble wrap, boxes, air pillows!). Win-win.
5. Hire Out the Simple Time-Suck Tasks
For me, it was packaging. Two hours a day. Gone.
I found a local teen who wanted a little side money and hired them as a contractor. Just two hours freed me up to fulfill hundreds of dollars in orders. It was a no-brainer.
Focus on tasks that make you money. Outsource the rest.
6. Respond to Messages FAST
This one’s controversial—my husband teases me about it—but I respond to customer messages within five minutes, whenever possible.
Why? Because they’ve probably messaged other shops too. If I’m the first to respond clearly and kindly, I’m usually the one who gets the sale. Speedy, helpful responses = instant trust.
7. Keep Reviews Glowing (They Sell for You)
Don’t let your customer service slide when things get busy. That’s the quickest way to a wave of negative reviews—and once that happens, Etsy will throttle your growth.
Instead:
- Stay on top of communication
- Fix mistakes quickly
- Treat every order like it matters (because it does!)
Positive reviews are just as important as great product photos. Never forget that.
8. Use Scripted Messages
If you’re not sending pre-written, thoughtful messages, you’re wasting time.
Especially if your turnaround is over 3 days, send check-in messages after day 3:
“Hey [Name], just checking in to let you know your order is on track and looking great! Follow us on IG for behind-the-scenes peeks: [link]”
Keep customers in the loop. It builds trust and reduces message anxiety.
9. Raise Your Average Order Value
Here’s the truth: you’ll never hit $30K/month selling $5 items.
At that price point, you’d need 6,000 orders a month. That’s 200 customers a day—and no human can handle that solo.
Raise your AOV (Average Order Value) to $100+. You’ll hit your goals faster and keep your sanity. Some ideas:
- Bundle products
- Target wholesale buyers or boutiques
- Offer complementary products your customers are already shopping for
Use your current customers’ favorites as inspiration. Selling first birthday banners? Add cake toppers or balloon garlands. Sell to the whole party, not just one part.
