Monday- Create three new listings, daily messaging, & social media posts
1. Create three new listings and at least one loss leader. A loss leader is something with a low margin and price point. The purpose of the loss leader is to scale your order number as high and fast as possible. You are not trying to make money on it.
2. Implement the Facebook strategy for 20 minutes. This might result in 5-10 posts depending on how fast you are. We also do not want to use a Facebook business page for this. One of my students went from 20-50 visits to more than 2k visits a day implementing the Facebook strategy!
3. Create one reel or post. The content you will create is a montage of sneak peeks of customer orders.
4. Daily messaging for inquiries and customer orders.
5. Create one Instagram story with a poll to increase engagement. Ensure the poll is around new product ideas like “Do you like the lavender or the pink? Do you like this design or this design?”
6. Complete your order fulfillment.
Tuesday- Check listings on mobile, your competitor sales, & Pinterest strategy
1. Check your listings on mobile. Go on your phone and look at both the app and just a mobile web browser. This is going to ensure that you are fully optimized for mobile. Could someone buy your listing on their phone in the middle of the night while they are feeding their baby? You also want to compare yourself to market leaders and see how you look in the search results. Is the photo and price point more compelling than the market leader? If not, we have work to do.
2. Then we are going to check our top one to three competitor’s sales. We are only doing this once a week because you will drive yourself crazy if you do this daily. Just like the stock market, we do not want day-to-day to affect our decisions. The reason why we look each week is to see trends and compare their order count. We do not want to look at them on Everbee because those are estimates and it does not account for discounts or sale pricing.
3. Implement the Pinterest strategy for 20 minutes. You do not need to be creating pins. We are just using the Google Chrome extension for 20 minutes. We want 80-100 pins in total this day.
4. Create one Instagram reel or post. Remember, Instagram is for nurturing our customers and for building a cult-like following. For this post, we are going to highlight and call out some customer reviews. This means sharing screenshots of any reviews that came in that week.
5. Daily messaging for inquiries and customer orders.
6. Create an Instagram story all about a new product launch. Show the product, the behind-the-scenes, the design, the creation, the texture, the color, the size, the shape, all of it.
7. Complete your order fulfillment.
Wednesday- A/B test thumbnails, site merchandising, & daily messaging
1. Pack your listing photos with value so that you have the winning value proposition in search results. You also want to A/B test your thumbnails. This requires that your listings show up in the same search results and we want to see which listing is clicked into. We will have similar SEO for each of these listings we just want to change out the photos and see which has a higher click-through rate. You can also use Facebook ads for this but we are currently focusing on organic growth.
2. Complete Pinterest optimization on all of your listings that have not been done yet because Pinterest does not work if your listings are not optimized for it.
3. Evaluate the site merchandising techniques that we have in your listings and shop. The definition of site merchandising is “the act of strategically arranging or showcasing your online product catalog in a way that encourages site shoppers to stick around and buy.” When I worked in corporate e-commerce, we had a whole site merchandising team. With site merchandising, you are ensuring that the right products are showing up at the right place, in the right time, in the right way. It is about creating a brand experience where they run into your products as much as possible.
4. Implement the Facebook strategy for 20 minutes. Again, this should yield 5-10 posts.
5. Create one Instagram reel or post showing a behind-the-scenes look at what your product is. You do not want to show the how and attract a DIY customer, just show enough so they can see the magic of the transformation. Make sure to cross-promote this content on TikTok because it performs very well on there.
6. Daily messaging for inquiries and customer orders.
7. Create one Instagram story showing some behind-the-scenes.
8. Complete your order fulfillment.
Thursday- Create three new listings from your best sellers & share social media content
1. Create three new product listings based on your most recent 20 sales. You will not be duplicating those products three more times, you are creating unique products that are iterations of what is working. The reason why we are focusing on best sellers versus trying to fix our worst performers is that you are going to get a better ROI on your time when you focus on what is working. I see people make the mistake of focusing on a listing that is not selling and they take that design and put it on 10 other things and it still does not sell.
2. Implement the same Pinterest strategy for 20 minutes.
3. Create one reel using trending audio over a screen recording of you scrolling through your orders and saying thank you.
4. Daily messaging for inquiries and customer orders.
5. Create one Instagram story about your family life to show that you are a normal, real person.
6. Complete your order fulfillment. We are doing this every day because we want to get traction quickly.
Friday- Product research outside of Etsy & write new SEO
1. Focus on product research outside of Etsy. I do not ever promote finding best sellers and tweaking them. Chasing the success of someone else does not work. We need to look outside of Etsy to see the trends that are not yet on the platform. If you have not seen my top 10 trends for 2024, check out this video. If you need help learning where to find these trends, email us at team@dylanjahraus.com
2. Write out new SEO for profitable customer segments. We want to think of the customer first and the product second. We want to target profitable customer segments who have higher discretionary income since they might have more consistent spending habits. Then we build our product mix around them using the “seven types of products framework” before we create our listings. This customer is essential in deciding what SEO to use because we want to get in front of the right traffic.
3. Implement the Facebook strategy for 20 minutes. Again, this should yield 5-10 posts.
4. Create one Instagram reel or post collaborating with another shop. This helps push followers in both directions. We have a public free Facebook group where you can find people to collaborate with if you are not in one of our programs!
5. Daily messaging for inquiries and customer orders.
6. Create one Instagram story where you ask customers to leave their questions. They could ask you anything about the product, size, care, or anything else you think they might want to know.
7. Complete your order fulfillment.
Saturday- Analyze listing stats & update mockups or photos
1. Review your listing level stats. We are going to improve your 10 worst and 10 best listings. We always start with what is working because we do not want our first focus to be on things that are not working.
2. Update your mockups and photos for your near-dead listings. This is a last chance hail mary before we kill the listings.
3. Implement the Pinterest strategy for 20 minutes, using the same concept as the other days.
4. Create one reel or post about your shop, your brand, or your story so customers can learn more about you. Include five fun facts about yourself to welcome and introduce yourself to new followers.
5. Daily messaging for inquiries and customer orders.
6. Create an Instagram story about a limited-time offer or deal.
Sunday- Set up your Instagram posting schedule & address pricing strategies
1. Set up your Instagram posting schedule. Do not spend any more than 30 minutes on this. It is just to make your posting throughout the week as mindless as possible.
2. Set up your pricing strategies for the week. Make sure you know which listings are in the sprint and which are in the marathon phase. Kill listings that are two months old without any sales or favorites. This is to protect your conversion rate and we want your shop to evolve to have every listing “paying its rent.”
3. Create one Instagram post or reel where you are unpacking new inventory or showing a new digital product to your customers. You can even give a sneak peek of a future drop for a new product.
4. Daily messaging for inquiries and customer orders.
5. Create one Instagram story about how to use or leverage your product. This is an educational post about how to get the utility out of it.
6. Order fulfillment, of course!
